Top of the Pods Competition

Do you have ākonga who are aspiring podcasters? Or maybe they are curious about what it takes to produce a podcast? Perhaps your students are unsure of what a podcast is, but have a story to share?

Welcome to Top of the Pods!

GCSN is proud to be working alongside Christchurch City Libraries and Plains FM to launch Top of the Pods, a new podcasting competition where teams of ākonga from across greater Christchurch can create and submit their own podcast episode, learn new skills, and win awesome prizes.

Schools will be able to register teams of up to 12 ākonga aged Years 5 - 10 and will be challenged to develop a creative, unique <20 minute podcast about whatever you like, the world's your oyster! Top of the Pods team entries will open on 1 September 2023 and the competition will run in the first few weeks of Term 4. In the meantime keep an eye out on the GCSN newsletter, website and social media platforms for updates about the competition.

Teams will have the opportunity to work directly with people in the industry to learn new podcasting skills, use the Libraries equipment, and create an inspiring narrative. GCSN, Christchurch City Libraries and Plains FM will host two Open Days on Thursday 19 October and Friday 27 October to support teams entered in the competition.

We have amazing prizes up for grabs, including a podcasting setup for your school, a tee-shirt making masterclass, and more!

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or comments or want to get involved.

We hope you are as excited about this opportunity as we are!
