LEARNZ Free Online Field Trips
LEARNZ is an MOE-supported programme that is free for NZ teachers to use with their classes. Each year LEARNZ virtual field trips take classes to interesting, inaccessible, prohibited or downright dangerous locations throughout New Zealand and offshore. Each field trip has its own self-contained web site, that goes live 1 month before the virtual field trip start date, with curriculum-integrated background material and activities plus a teacher section. During the field trip the web site builds up a record of the LEARNZ teacher's daily activities as they follow the experts with the addition of diaries, videos, audioconferences, photos and much more. Students have the opportunity to put questions to experts in live audioconferences and via a Web Board. Each field trip remains online for continued use.
