Ilam School

We are a large Decile 7 (currently U5) contributing school in Ilam next to Canterbury University. Our commitment is to meet the individual needs of all children. We believe in providing a strong foundation in reading, written language and mathematics and encourage each child to reach his/her potential. We value excellence in scholastic, cultural and sporting pursuits and have extensive opportunities available in these areas.

The school has a supportive staff, community and Board of Trustees as well as an active PTA. Our staff is committed to ongoing professional development to ensure the highest standards are met and the nurture and care of children is our priority.

We have a unique partnership with Canterbury University located on our northern boundary. University staff, graduates and undergraduates contribute to some class and individual programmes, opening exciting new horizons for our students.

We are a very multi-cultural school catering for over thirty different cultural and national backgrounds. We place a high value on the contribution and enrichment these cultures bring to our school community.
