Lenovo's new ruggedised laptop was designed for the education market

Lenovo has released the ThinkPad X130e laptop, a ruggedised device specifically aimed at the education market.

The new device is designed to meet military specifications for durability and, according to the vendor, will reduce non-warranty repair requirements.

“Lenovo has worked closely with its customers in the education sector, and the ThinkPad X130e has been designed to directly reflect the feedback we have received,” says David Heyworth, director, SMB, Lenovo ANZ. “The highest priority feature, according to education customers, is ‘ruggedness’. While we’ve built tough products for years that pass many military-grade tests, we’ve made specific improvements required for a laptop to be successful in an education environment with the ThinkPad X130e.”

The ultraportable laptop features a 11.6-inch screen and Intel second generation Celeron or Core i3-2367M ULV processors. The battery will last an entire school day, Lenovo says.

The ThinkPad X130e laptop starts from NZ$879, excluding GST, and discounted prices apply to education contracts.
